Is it that important?
Keep reading till the end to find out!
Off season provides plenty of opportunities to develop your skills as well as the mental front of playing volleyball as a player of the sport.
In my last post, I’ve discussed in detail about a useful tip to follow during the off season as a volleyball player. In this one, I’ll talk about the only thing that you need to avoid during the off season.
Let’s get started!
Did you know? The hit and spike that we now see players execute in volleyball weren’t always a part of the sport previously. They were first introduced in Philippines. They are also known as offensive style play in the volleyball circles.
The Only Thing that You Need to Definitely Avoid During the Off Season as a Volleyball Player
Why it’s Necessary to Stay on Track During the Off Season as a Volleyball Player?
Off season is the time to stay on top of your game. By doing so, you’ll be able to easily reintegrate yourself both physically and mentally once the next season starts.
You’ll also be able to get back on to the court with the same effectiveness and impact you had in the previous season if you stay on track as a player.
Here are some things you might struggle to achieve fluency if you don’t stay on track during the off season.
- You wouldn’t have stable energy throughout the match.
- You could lose touch on certain aspects of the sport.
- Your overall stability on the court as a player may be compromised.
- Your mind may not be fully ready to get back on to the court even if the season starts.
What’s One Critical Thing that You Need to Avoid During the Off Season As a Volleyball Player?
To achieve the same impact and effectiveness in the next season, the thing that you need to avoid at all cost during the off season as a volleyball player is slacking.
There are many ways to slack in the off season. From saying goodbye to exercise routines, overindulgence in unhealthy food patterns, to not training enough and losing muscle memory are some of them.
Indulging in your favorite treats once or twice is fine in the off season, but make sure to balance it out with either a slightly higher amount of exercise, physical activity or time spent on the volleyball court than usual the next day. This’ll allow your body to keep the energy and agility that you had during the volleyball season intact.

A massive yes! Just like any other sports person, volleyball players must need for an off season. This gives them a chance to improve the weaker areas of their overall game, increase their strength and endurance if needed, rest, relax and rejuvenate both the body and mind to be fit for the next season.

Off season training provides players to stay fit, keep their body ready to go for the next season and helps them to work on their weaker areas of the game if any. For this specific reason, it’s necessary to have an off season training plan for volleyball players.
